My work consists of wheel thrown and altered ceramics. Most of my work is functional. I work primarily with high fire porcelains and stonewares and use both gas reduction and soda salt firing.
Working with clay is a communal exploration and understanding of the ground and earth we inhabit. It is a practice that requires a very methodical scientific process, yet it also demands an alchemic and sometimes mystic approach to working with it. For me the process of creating with this substance is just as enchanting as the land from which it comes. This symbiotic relationship is what inspires the work I create from it.
